Description

A fun and delicious sandwich turned into sushi rolls, making lunch exciting for kids.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices soft white sandwich bread, crusts removed
  • 8 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
  • 6 tablespoons strawberry or grape jelly
  • Toothpicks or cling film (for holding rolls together)

Instructions

  1. Remove the crusts. Stack 2–3 slices of bread and cut the crusts off all four sides in one go using a sharp knife.
  2. Flatten the bread. Place one crustless slice of bread on a clean surface and roll it with a rolling pin until it is thinner and compressed.
  3. Spread the fillings. Spread 1 tablespoon of peanut butter evenly on the flattened bread and add about ¾ tablespoon of jelly on top, leaving a 1cm strip bare.
  4. Roll tightly. Start from the long edge opposite the bare strip, rolling it into a tight log and sealing the seam with the bare strip.
  5. Slice into rounds using a sharp knife, cutting the log into 3 rounds per slice of bread. A clean cut will help the roll hold together.

Notes

Ensure the bread is fresh and properly flattened to avoid cracking. Wrap in cling film if making ahead for lunchboxes.
