Description
A fun and delicious sandwich turned into sushi rolls, making lunch exciting for kids.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices soft white sandwich bread, crusts removed
- 8 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
- 6 tablespoons strawberry or grape jelly
- Toothpicks or cling film (for holding rolls together)
Instructions
- Remove the crusts. Stack 2–3 slices of bread and cut the crusts off all four sides in one go using a sharp knife.
- Flatten the bread. Place one crustless slice of bread on a clean surface and roll it with a rolling pin until it is thinner and compressed.
- Spread the fillings. Spread 1 tablespoon of peanut butter evenly on the flattened bread and add about ¾ tablespoon of jelly on top, leaving a 1cm strip bare.
- Roll tightly. Start from the long edge opposite the bare strip, rolling it into a tight log and sealing the seam with the bare strip.
- Slice into rounds using a sharp knife, cutting the log into 3 rounds per slice of bread. A clean cut will help the roll hold together.
Notes
Ensure the bread is fresh and properly flattened to avoid cracking. Wrap in cling film if making ahead for lunchboxes.
